Ashley McFarland Art Style

Wow this reminds me of the art by Ashley McFarland. I could totally see her hanging at the beach all day drawing giant murals in the sand.

This artist used the sand from a shore as his canvas. This is the work of Andreas Amador. Visit his website: www.andresamadorarts.com

Ocean Art From A New Jersey Artist

I loves art, and despite not being educated in the finer points of the subject I do know what I think is cool…and Ashley McFarland’s art is definitely cool. Ashley is a good friend of mine, so when she approached me to build her website of course I said yes. Her drawings are much more intricate than you can tell by first glance. I have seen her at work covering the locals in marker and henna tattoos while enjoying the beach (wonder why she loves drawing jellyfish hmm).

Anyway, last night Ashley had her first art show in conjunction with premiering her website at The Downtown in Red Bank, NJ. So below are a few pieces that were on display, and some of which were sold on the spot. If you like Ashley’s art you can contact her to get either the original or a print. She will also gladly hook you up with your own design, and all you have to do is ask (and pay).

Carvin Art New Jersey Surf Art

If you surf, then you know the dismay of breaking a board. Surfers (mainly those of us that can’t afford a new board every month) grow attached to their boards because we carefully chose which one fits our style, and we spend so much time riding it. When that board breaks it just plain sucks, but luckily a New Jersey artist named Ronnie Jackson helps us keep that board. No, we aren’t talking about board repair…we are talking about recycling.

Ronnie’s company, Carvin Art, takes that broken board you once loved so much and renews it as a piece of art you can treasure. By using a rotary Dremel, Ronnie can recreate your favorite surf spot on your broken board. We can tell you this is not an easy task as we have spent the day at Carvin Art’s work space to check out Ronnie’s process. The video above will give you a glimpse of the transition from old broken board to new work of art.

This may seem like a back yard operation, but Ronnie Jackson is not just another starving artist. His work has been used as a trophy for the Belmar Pro Surf Contest (check out the trophy here) and even admired in the New York Times!
